You must be a registered attendee of Diamond Jam 2008
& 1/2 to compete. |
| 2. You may
participate in any competition simply by signing up for
the competition provided you meet the specific competition
qualifications. |
| 3. All entries
are due at the competition deadline. Late entries will
not be accepted. |
| 4. All contestants
agree to release their names and all photos to Diamond
Jam for publicity purposes. |
| 5. Your competition
subject matter must be appropriate for public viewing.
Any sculpture or creation not considered within the bounds
of acceptable taste, or violates moral or ethical standards,
will be disqualified and removed at the discretion of
the judging panel prior to voting. |
| 6. Check your
registration packet for detailed, final rules. Also check
at the event for any last-minute adjustments to the rules
|
| 7. In the event
of a dispute, the judging panel will render a decision.
The judging panel decision is final. |

| 1.
All registered attendees can vote on entries. Your registration
kits will include 5 voting tickets for each category,
which you can use to vote for choice(s) in any combination
you decide. You can vote all 5 tickets to one sculpture,
or split your 5 votes in any manner you choose. |
| 2. If you are
a competitor, you cannot vote for your own entry. Any
votes for your own entry will be disregarded. |
| 3. Proxy voting
is not allowed. You must be present at the competition
display room to vote. |
| 4. 50% of the
score will come from voting by convention attendees, and
50% of the score will come from a judging panel selected
for their objectivity and high stature in the industry.
Diamond Seeker Award & Diamond Star Award to be voted
entirely by Diamond Jam Attendees. |
| 5. All judging
decisions are final. |

There will be some cash prizes and some product prizes,
depending on the type of competition. |
| The finely-crafted
Diamond Jam Awards will be awarded as specified in each
competition description. Only one winner will be declared
in the Diamond Artist category. The top 3 competitors
in each of the other competition categories will receive
awards. |
| The Dewey Awards
will also be presented at Diamond Jam. |
|
This is an artistic competition. The objective is to be
creative and stretch the imagination of what is possible
with balloons as a medium for artistic expression. |
 |
| Only one prize
will be awarded. A single winner of this competition will
receive the following: |
|
• A
crystal diamond engraved with the winner's name. |
|

A cash prize of up to $5,000 depending on the number of
participants. Minimum cash
prize awarded will be $1,000.00
More than 25 competitors, prize is $5,000.00
Between 11-25 competitors, prize is $3,000.00
Less than 10 competitors, prize is $1,000.00 |

return trip as a judge and instructor at next year's event. |

• Everyone
else who meets the General Requirements and submit the
$100.00 entry fee by the entry deadline (August 1, 2008)
is eligible to participate. |

| In addition to the General
Rules, the following rules also apply for this competition: |
|
• There
are no time limits or size limits, provided your sculpture
is completed by the deadline and fits in your designated
space. |
| |
•
Sculptures must be created in your designated space
(you will have 24-hr access to the space until the deadline) |
| |
• The
majority of the sculpture must be made with balloons. |
| |
• The
sculpture must be of a "twisted" style, not
a "decor" style. |
| |
• This
is an individual competition, not a team competition.
Only a single named individual will be associated with
each entry submitted, and the prize will be awarded to
a single individual. |

• Sculpture
must be acceptable for public viewing.
(ie, does not violate any moral, ethical, or taste considerations) |
|
This is a skill competition. All competitors start with
un-inflated balloons and have the same amount of time
to create their sculptures. |

| Prizes will
be award to each of the top three competitors based on
the Judging Rules: |

• A
crystal award engraved with the winner's name. |
|

First Place prize is $300.00
Second Place prize is $200.00

to the General Rules, the following rules also apply for
this competition: |

• All
sculptures must be created in the competition room. |
| |

All competitors must be present in the competition
room at the start; once the doors are closed, no further
competitors will be allowed in. |
| |
• There
are no restrictions on what you can use in your sculpture,
but the sculpture must have more than 60% balloons content.
This is subjective, and the proctor's decision is final. |
| |
• You
must start with un-inflated balloons. You cannot pre-inflate
the balloons nor can you pre-assemble any non-balloon
parts. |
| |
• There
is a time limit of 2 hrs to complete your sculpture. |
| |
• There
are no size limits on the sculptures. Whatever you can
build within the time limit will be acceptable. |

This is a busking competition. Competitors will be presented
with a series of challenges and will be judged on their
performance. |
 |

be award to each of the top three competitors based on
the Judging Rules: |

• A

To preserve the element of surprise in this competition,
the specific rules will be explained to the competitors

This is a performance competition. Competitors will perform
a routine involving balloons before an audience. As is
typical with most balloon entertainment venues, the performance
must be self-contained and set-up on an empty stage within
minutes prior to the performance and be removed within
minutes following the performance. |

sets, or elaborate set-ups are allowed. The focus is on
the entertainer and their skill, not on the set design
or staging. Competitors must set-up on a blank stage and
be ready to go within 3 minutes. |

This is a competition for those under 14 years of age. |
